Our Mission StatementThe mission of the Early Childhood Education Program is to create an integrated and comprehensive system of diverse, high quality early childhood education and care services that enhance the development of young children so that they are "ready to succeed" when they enter Kindergarten; to support families in their role as nurturers and first teachers; and to meet the needs and financial abilities of Denver's working parents. |
We want children to experience excitement and interest in learning, while becoming skilled at getting along with others in a school setting and acquiring knowledge on how to be healthy and safe, ultimately feeling a sense of belonging.
We want children to be active and independent learners who have the necessary skills to be successful academically as well as socially and emotionally in the traditional school setting. We hope to inspire children to love learning and acquire positive self-esteem. Our goal is for children exiting our program to have experienced growth in oral language, thinking and reasoning skills, positive social behavior, fine and gross motor skill development, and have practices in good nutritional, safety, and health care habits that will allow them to embark upon a successful academic career that ultimately leads them to become participatory and productive adult citizens. |
The classrooms and playground are maintained in a clean, organized fashion with attention to safety. Children are reminded frequently of previous and current explicitly taught safety and health practices such as proper hand washing, playground and classroom rules, and appropriate response to emergency preparedness.
Our program provides a broad range of developmentally appropriate educational experiences for preschool children that support emergent literacy skills and future school success; actively involve parents in the education of their children both at home and at school; support children's emerging sense of self in an environment that promotes the development of confidence and competence and fosters skills for healthy social interactions. |
